An Early depart towards Camp ISAP after a hearty breakfast, where the next 7 days will unfold into an enriching and transformative experience. ISAP (Anti-Poaching through Education) Camp offers students a unique educational venture focused on sustainability, nature conservation, and cultural immersion.
Over the week-long stay, participants will delve into a diverse range of activities. This includes understanding the value of birds in tourism and conservation, discussions on identifying harmless or dangerous snakes and handling snake encounters, an introduction to local mammals and their conservation status, and basic first aid training. Engaging sessions on photography and map reading, along with insights into sustainable resource utilization, form integral components of the program.
The camp places a strong emphasis on preserving the traditional knowledge and skills of the indigenous Khwe and Ju/'Hoansi communities. Participants have the exclusive opportunity to read the "Bush Newspaper," providing a unique window into Namibia's diverse environment. Observing the sustainable use of renewable resources, such as solar energy and tree planting, adds an eco-conscious dimension to the experience.
As the week unfolds, engaging conversations, delightful meals around the campfire, and stargazing under the African sky create a holistic and unforgettable conclusion to this educational journey. The ISAP Camp fosters an understanding of the intricate interconnectedness of nature and its crucial role in human survival, leaving participants with lasting memories and newfound insights.
